Back-2-Back Fall Classic Champs

The Toronto IceDogs Peewee AA team completed a memorable weekend, winning their second straight Toronto IceDogs Fall Classic.

After winning the first round robin game 7-0 against the Caledon Hawks, they faced a very strong Streetsville Tiger team and battled to a 2-1 victory. Saturday morning they faced an equally strong Stratford Warrior team, who came into the tournament with only 2 losses on the season and lost that game 4-0.

Winning their group on goal differential, they again faced the Streetsville Tigers in the semi-finals. Working hard the whole game, they went out to a 2-0 lead before giving up a late goal and, after some anxious moments on the bench and in the stands, prevailed 2-1. Stratford won their semi-final, beating Barrie 4-0, to set up Sunday morning’s showdown.

The atmosphere in our dressing room and on our bench was electric. The boys raised their game to a high point for the season, scoring 3 impressive goals to take a 3-1 lead, then weathered some nail biting minutes (mostly for the parents) at the end after Stratford had made the score 3-2 and pulled their goalie. The boys poured (or fell) over the boards, sticks/gloves flying everywhere as they celebrated. The coach commented afterwards that it was an amazing sight to see.
