Weston Hawks
Pee Wee AA team had in 2003/04 what can only be called a
dream year. Seventeen hockey players realized one of their dreams this season.
Each of them put their best skate forward to work as team dedicated
to winning while having the time of their lives. Weston Hawks,
Pee Wee AA team included
16 boys and 1 girl from all over the GTA. The team had players who stood at 4'10" to 6' 1" but on the day of
their championship game, players,
coaches, trainers, managers and most of all, parents stood very tall
with pride.

The team's 2003/04 accomplishments:
A clean sweep for the Weston Hawks, Pee Wee 'AA'! The relatively new team of
12 year olds started and ended the year off with the Gold! Soaring into the
year with the Vaughan Early Bird Tournament Championship under their wing,
they continued to be a strong force winning the Stratford Silver Stick
Qualifier Championship and then finishing off with the very prestigious
Carnation Cup and the G.T.H.L. City Championships. The Ontario Hockey
Federation (O.H.L.) Provincial Championship held in North Bay over Easter
Weekend was the final hardware to be won. At the Provincial Championships,
The Hawks dominated with six straight wins over the Waterloo Wolves (Alliance Champions),
Cooper Cliff Redman (NOHA Champions), and West Ferris North Bay (host team)
to be crowned the Provincial Champions after a decisive 3-0 final against
the Aurora Tigers (O.M.H.A. Champions).

Coach Sean Killam stated, "These young talented hockey players always
performed with professionalism and dedication. Their teamwork was exemplary
and is evident from our statistics. We played 79 games and lost only 11 games.
These players deserve the accolades that they have received throughout the season.
And personally, I would like to congratulate each of them for all their efforts."
Congratulations Weston Hawks Pee Wee AA Hockey Players - for making this dream a reality!

The Weston Hawks Minor Atom A Team story is like that of the Little Engine That Could, although at times
the parents wondered if the boys really believe it. At the end of the summer of 2003 only 12 players
were signed with no prospects. With one day left before the league was to start
charging penalty fees for incomplete rosters the 15th player was
found. The coaches then knew they had a real team!
In mid February the team felt it best to register for the Clancy as
they were in 9th place and on a losing streak. But like the little engine that could
they did, and the team finished in 6th place. Along
the way they spoiled West Mall’s race for 2nd (having never previously beaten them) and removed
the Rangers from 3rd place contention with a tie game.
This team certainly came to be known as the spoilers!
Although the boys never rose above 6th place, in their hearts they were true
winners. What's more important, friendship were made this season
that will last a lifetime between both players and parents. In
the end, isn't that what minor hockey's all about?
